1 Red Light

OK I just got my 360 this Christmas so I'm new to this problem...

Just now I turned on my 360 and it has this red light at the bottom right corner(standing vertical not horizontal). Does this mean I have the red ring and now its dead or can I fix it. I also got a black menu saying go to customer support and a code thing saying E 68...

E68: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it, This can also be caused by a Hard Drive Eprom Error. Some also believe this might be caused by a problem with the fans.

Also speaking of the fans whenever I first turn on the 360 it makes a loud screeching. Then once I restart it it is OK?!
